In the Education Department, we recognize the importance of the
earliest years as a time of rapid growth and development. We work to
facilitate development of skills in the areas of play, social,
self-help, speech and language, motor, and cognition, by providing
ample opportunities for growth and learning.
Integration of children with disabilities and their typical peers
continues in our pre-school program. In addition to our three
classes at the Johnson City site, we also operate "Special Classes
in Integrated Settings" at the Head Start in Endicott and the
Discovery Center in Binghamton. Here HCA
children are able to learn side by side with Head Start and
Discovery Center children.
In collaboration with the integrated pre-school classrooms, HCA
participates in a Universal Pre-K program available to
those children who will be of Kindergarten age the following school
year and reside in the Johnson City school district.
HCA operates 8 classrooms in 3 locations, Johnson City, Endicott,
and Binghamton. Class hours at the Johnson City site are 8:30 AM -
11:30 AM and 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM; Endicott site: 8:30-11:30 a.m. and
12:45-3:45 p.m.; Binghamton site: 11:45 a.m. - 2:45 p.m.
